Our understanding of Scripture is that the repentant believer comes to
relationship in Christ at the point of baptism.  When the believer is baptized into
Christ, sins are washed away and God¹s Spirit comes to dwell within the
individual.  Scripture calls this the ³new birth.² We were therefore buried with him
through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead
through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life (Romans 6:4).  Peter
replied, ³Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ
so that your sins may be forgiven.  And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit
(Acts 2:38).
If anyone responds for baptism, there may be a baptism during the service.  The
baptism will be by immersion (Acts 8:35-39; Romans 6:3,4; Colossians
2:12), and it will be for remission of sins and the gift of eternal life (Acts 2:38).
